April 27, 2012 Plant Tour: Manko Windows
Thanks to Mike Kwasny from Manko for opening the doors to our CSI chapter for this plant tour, as well as for providing lunch for members who are attending. Mike sent the following information.
"Manko Window Systems is a manufacturer of a large number of various types of aluminum commercial window systems. We also manufacture architectural aluminum entrances, storefront and curtain wall systems. At our 110k square foot Denver facility you'll be able to see the fabrication of the windows and entrance doors along with our huge inventory of the above mentioned systems. We are also fabricators of different types of glass products from insulated glass units to heavy glass products and shower doors. In our glass department you'll be able to see our recently updated tempering oven operation along with our new insulated glass spacer line, edging and polishing equipment. We are the only supplier and fabricator of such a vast product line in the Denver marketplace. Please come out to have lunch and tour our facility thru the CSI Denver Chapter plant tour April 27th at 11:30 A.M."

Environmental StoneWorks
Environmental StoneWorks is the only national manufacturer and installer of stone veneer, so there is one point of responsibility from start to finish for all your projects.
When: January 26, 2012 (Thursday)
Where: 6300 East Stapleton Drive South, Denver, Co 80216 – contact Coleen Moote 303.309.3048 for directions. Parking available in the front lot.
Time & Agenda: 11:15-1:00, Lunch and a presentation will also be provided.
Safety: Hard hats and protective eyewear will be provided. None of the tour will be conducted outside, but it does get cold in our manufacturing facility. Yes, close-toed shoes are preferred as the manufacturing facility has puddles of water in various areas.

Rocky Mountain Precast

Kind of Tour: Tour RMP's structural production facility
When: Friday, December 2, 2011
Where: 5801 Pecos St., Denver. If coming from the north, there is a bridge over the railroad tracks on Pecos St that is under construction. It is suppose to open in Mid November. If it does not, people will need to use Federal Blvd and come over on 56th Ave. There aren’t any problems coming from the south.
Time & Agenda: 11:30-1:00, To begin will be a quick tour of the facility – 1 hour and then a box lunch in our main office for discussion done by about 1:00.
Safety: You will need proper PPE. No open toed shoes, need to have pants – no shorts/skirts, RMP will provide hard hats and safety glasses for those who need them. The total distance we will walk on the tour is about 1/3rd of a mile on rocky ground. Please keep this in mind.

Oldcastle Precast
The tour will take a look at how concrete culverts are made.
When: Friday, October 21, 2011
Where: 8392 Riverview Parkway, Littleton, CO 80125, Off C-470 & Santa Fe. The property backs up to the Chatfield Reservoir. Parking is available in front of the plant.
Time: The tour begins at 11:00 am, please arrive at 10:50. Lunch will be provided
Safety: Hard hats, glasses and ear protection will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. Close-toed shoes are required.

ACH Foam Technologies
The tour will take a look at Expanded Polystyrene manufacturing and the lamination facility for Structural Insulated Panels.
When: June 24, 2011
Where: 5250 North Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80216. The plant itself is behind the Grizzly Rose off I-25 and 58th Avenue.
Time: Start at 11:30 and should complete by 1 or 1:30 PM which will include lunch and Q & A
Safety: Hard hats, glasses and close-toed shoes are a necessity. Let Shirley know if you will need a hard hat and safety glasses.

Oldcastle Building Envelope Plant Tour - May 26th, 2011
- Metal Fabrication - CNC Drilling/Fabrication machine/punches/mill. Standard doors-hardware/fabricated storefront/curtainwall/thermal & non thermal systems.
- 2 CNC automated glass cutting machines
- Glass fabrication equipment - CNC glass drilling/straight line edging equipment/mitres/bevels
- Reverse roll spandrel applicator
- Automated vertical insulating glass line
- Manual horizontal insulating glass line
- Manual horizontal insulating glass line (super spacer for residential applications)
- Two tempering furnaces
- Osprey - laser device for measuring and recording roller wave distortion in heat treated glass
- Laminated glass line - autoclave that is 10' diameter x 240" deep.
- Sandblasting - custom and standard
When: Thursday, May 26th, 2011
Location: 11205 East 37th Avenue, Denver, CO, 80239. Parking in the main lot, as well as additional spots at "B" building which is directly to the East of the location.
Time: Tour will start at 11:30 lunch will be provided.
Credit Information: N/A
Safety: Hard hats, goggles and ear plugs will be provided, no open toed shoes allowed.

Custom Window
When: Wednesday, February 23, 2011
Location: 2727 South Santa Fe, (Just north of Dartmouth on west side of Santa Fe) Plenty of parking.
Time: Tour will start at 11:00 to 12:00 and then CW will provide a lunch...12:00 to 1:00
Credit Information: One CEU credit will be issued so architects should bring their AIA number with them
Safety: Goggles and ear plugs (which are probably not going to be needed) will be provided by CW
Participant Limit: 20 people

Hammonds Candy Factory Tour - 12/17/10
The tour is Friday, December 17, starting at noon. The address is 5735 North Washington Street (basically across the street from the Merchandise Mart on 58th), see directions and further information below. There is no limit to the number of participants for this tour. No lunch will be served on this tour. There is however, a small store that we can all shop in and candy-out. Behind the Scenes Tours:
Our "Behind the Scenes Tours" are special tours where you go into the kitchen to help the candy makers make Hammonds candy!
Allergy Note: Peanuts, tree nuts & other allergen producing ingredients are processed in our factory. Because we are a small company with a small kitchen, we do share equipment used in making candy with allergens and candy without. Also, our factory tour areas share open air with our kitchen and production areas.

Plant Tour at the Lakewood Brick Company - 10/27/10
Save the date! The tour will begin promptly at 11:45am and will last approximately 45 minutes. Hard hats and safety glasses will be provided. Followed by a complimentary lunch at the nearby Lakewood Brick Company showroom. This event is open to Chapter Members only and limited to 15 people.
